Border PHC lying sick for 20 years in Mizoram

The Government of Mizoram must do something about this rural PHC urgently.. 20 years is a long time, and countless people have died due to lack of life saving drugs and doctors at this PHC !!

Paritosh, the problem is with the doctors. Many of them preferred to tender their resignation if they are posted in these far flung remote and rural areas of Mizoram. Simply because they do not wish to live in rural areas. They can still make more money by opening a clinic in bigger towns and cities. Not only in Chakma areas, but also in any other rural parts of Mizoram, this is common. Being from Mara ADC area, I can assure you that this is not about discrimination of sort by the state government. The problem is with the doctors. The best thing we can do is to raise our own doctors who are native of these towns where PHC are located. Even in MADC area Phura and Chakhei PHC are empty just like the one you mentioned above. Chhaolo PHC got a doctor this year, because the doctor belong to the town, he has obliged to the request of the people of the town. This is just for a thought.

Thank you "Maraland" for your inputs. I think, here, MCDF has not talked about "discrimination" but "neglect" by both the Mizoram govt and CADC local govt as the PHC is lying defunct for the last 20 yrs. There are two issues: 1. Even if Mizoram govt cant find doctors, they can still make the PHC functional by posting other healthcare staff, like trained health workers, nurse, midwives etc. 2. If the govt cannot appoint any doctor, or has no health staff to man this PHC, why did it build (I dont know the cost) and rebuild the PHC in 2010 at the cost of Rs 90,50,500 from NRHM funds??
